Camp Allen has a long history of partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Campers with muscular dystrophy attended camp in the 70’s and 80’s. After a long hiatus, the MDA returned to Camp Allen in 2010. Each summer 55 kids come barreling up the drive and thus begins a week of fun, laughter, pranks (they know how to prank!), and wonderful visitors and guests.
All camp fees are paid by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and they organize great activities that include a visitor’s day, rides in side cars of motorcycles, spaghetti supper organized and cooked by firemen from NH and MA. At least two MDA staff stay at camp as well as 15 volunteers to assist in all the fun activities.
Camp Allen staff plan all the typical activities such as swimming, boating, arts and crafts, skits, music, dance, and adapted sports. Two nurses on site provide medication administration and see to the health of all the campers.
For more information about this camp for kids call your local MDA office or Camp Allen at 603-622-8471.
Camp Allen has other partnerships that add to the whole summer experience. These include a long weekend for Little People of America, New England, usually held in July. For more information call the office and we will connect you to the right folks.
New this summer is a 3 day camp for NH residents in partnership with NH Brain Injury Association. The session is scheduled for August 24-27, Session 9. If interested please call Camp Allen at 603-622-8471.
