Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day at Camp Allen
Every year on April 2, the world comes together to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day, a time to recognize and honor individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and to promote inclusion, understanding and acceptance. At Camp Allen NH, we proudly serve individuals with autism and other developmental and/or physical disabilities, providing them with a safe, supportive and joyful camp experience where they can learn, grow and build meaningful connections.
For over 85 years, Camp Allen has been a place where campers of all abilities can be themselves and thrive in an inclusive, welcoming environment. Many of our campers with autism find a sense of belonging at camp, forming friendships, developing new skills and enjoying activities tailored to their unique needs. Our dedicated staff are trained to support individuals with ASD, ensuring that every camper feels comfortable, engaged and empowered.
At Camp Allen, we focus on celebrating each camper’s strengths rather than defining them by their challenges. Whether it's through adaptive sports, arts and crafts, music or outdoor adventures, we create opportunities for individuals with autism to express themselves, build confidence and experience the joy of achievement. Our structured yet flexible approach allows campers to participate at their own pace, fostering a sense of independence and self-esteem.
We believe that everyone deserves a place where they can be accepted for who they are and celebrated for what they bring to the world. On World Autism Awareness Day, and every day, Camp Allen stands with individuals with autism and their families, ensuring that our camp remains a beacon of joy, acceptance and adventure for all!
